Shihan Fumio Demura is the head of Japan Karate-Do Genbu-Kai International. The 1961 All Japan Karate Champion, he came to the United States in 1965. He is honored worldwide as one of today's leading traditional Karate teachers. From his headquarters in Orange County, California, he supervises instruction in more than 32 countries. He is the author of eight books on Karate-Do and Okinawan weapons, and has also authored numerous magazine articles. He helped create the Karate Kid series of films and appeared in that series as Pat Morita's stunt double. He is considered the model for the role of Mr. Miyagi.
